Belgium – In Brugge
After 20 years, Frank Matthys who is my importer in Belgium decided to celebrate in style. A few of his wine suppliers from all over the world joined in to showcase wines to his friends, clients and guests. Brugge is one of the oldest cities in Europe and boasts spectacular architecture.
2019 Japan Tour with Tsukasa Miyake of Masuda Importers
My visit in 2019 started in Tokyo to the North where I was introduced to the finest Sushi masters in all of Japan, then a trip to Ehime Prefecture – home of the oldest Soya distillery and orange farming. Also the oldest Onsin (Natural Hot baths). Then on to Nagoya where legendary Soba noodles are crafted. South to Osaka where my wines were presented to top Michelin chefs and sampled Korean inspired street food. Many other smaller villages were visited and tastings conducted. The pairing of our Elgin based wines worked perfectly with Japanese culture which is all about food.
One of our directors, Alphan Njeru, has been introducing our wines into Kenya over the past couple of years. We held trade tastings at top fine dining restaurants and wine clubs all over Nairobi.
2019 Guernsey Tasting is association with Kanonkop Wines
A wonderful time was spent on the historic island of Guernsey, as it was my first visit there to present my wines. It was a fabulous collaboration at the very upmarket Dunnells Wine Shop with Kanonkop Wines.

The Foodbarn Noordhoek
Chef’s Table at Franck Dangeroux’s fabulous restaurant in Noordhoek called the Foodbarrn. Franck selected our range of wines to accompany his incredible food. Joining in on the day was well known celebrity chef Peter Goffe-Wood and the very talented musician, Donovan Copley of Hot Water who entertained us in his hand -made Blik guitar.
Peter Templehof is head chef and owner of Fyn Restaurant which is considered to be one of South Africa’s most prestigious dining experiences. His Japanese inspired food is perfectly suited to the cool climate wines that we create. We’re really happy to be a part of his menu.
